12:13: Good news? Got more recruiter calls and one interview that I think went really well, for a position I really want, and for which I think I'm one of the Ideal Candidate Prototypes.
Then again, I've been known to count my chickens before they're hatched.
Uncertainty kills me.

10:56: Good news? Feh. A $1300 car repair bill, silence from those who interviewed me, and creditors starting to want their money.
I need some good news.

10:54: Great. Apparently oblivious to the fact that the rampant corruption, human rights abuses, and cultural violence done in Peru has been done primarily and almost exclusively by self-described straight men, the Catholic University of Peru has issued a pamphlet, egged on by Cardinal Cipriani (buddy of FujiMontesinos), calling homosexuality an illness and calling gender theory a "tool for the political maniplation of international organizations".
Certainly: who needs gender theory to manipulate international organizations when we have the Catholic Church to do it for all of us?

20:32: A very positive job interview and two different contracting firms seeking my skills for the same contract. Plus some temp work that actually paid something reasonable and a stream of recruiters calling me out of the blue.
Can this be an omen of good news? Goodness knows I need good news.

22:53: Dylan has arrived, and the advent of the new roommate is very welcome indeed. Job hunting continues, with some positive prospects on the horizon. Let us hope that one of them comes through.
I'm re-reading Cien años de soledad(One-hundred Years of Solitude) and finding that a lot of the things that have always really freaked me out/intrigued me are laid out in beautiful prose. Abandoned towns, eternal loneliness, corporate abuse, larger-than-life men...

20:23: School started again, and I'm actually excited for the courses I'm supposed to take this term. I'm torn, however, on whether I should take the Methods course this term and prepare for a possible trip to Peru to do some research, or whether I should leave that for next fall and take the fun courses this term.
Decisions, Decisions...
