Having Ridden Beyond the Sunset (July 5, 1999)

I rode 310 of the 330 miles of the AIDS Ride. I rode for four days from the moment they opened the route until I either made it to camp or was told I could bike no longer and should get on the sag bus. I met wonderful people, helped raise 4.8 million dollars for AIDS-related services in the DC area and had an incredible experience all around.

But, most importantly, I won my battle against my personal ghosts. I gave myself a lofty goal and achieved it. I succeeded in doing something athletic for the first time in my life.

I can do anything.
